Originally from Texas, Tim Cantrell, wife Ashley, and three kids have lived in Nashville for over ten years. Tim graduated in 1991 from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He received his Master of Business Administration from Baylor University in 1993. In addition to MBA coursework, Tim studied International Management and Finance at the graduate level.
As the Principal Financial Advisor of Applied Capital's Nashville office, an independent Registered Investment Advisor firm, Tim is responsible for the growth of his practice as well as managing the support staff and Financial Advisors in Nashville. He is Series 65 investment licensed as well as licensed in Life and Health insurance. 100% of Tim’s client accounts meet the Department of Labor Fiduciary standard. Tim's practice currently includes Jack Hudson, an experienced Financial Advisor who has worked with Tim since 2014.
Tim is recognized as a SmartVestor Pro by the Dave Ramsey organization. To be designated as a SmartVestor Pro, an Advisor must already possess and maintain a defined code of conduct as well as agree philosophically with the financial planning principles espoused by Dave Ramsey and his Ramsey Solutions program. Tim lives in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife of 20 years, Ashley Hodde Cantrell, and their three children, Sawyer, Sydney, and Grace. Tim is a former scout leader and the proud father of an Eagle Scout. His son is in the honors program at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. His oldest daughter is currently number one in her class at Nashville Christian School. His youngest is enrolled at Hillsboro High School. Both are regular recipients of academic and character achievement awards.
As Treasurer on the board of the Sertoma Club of Nashville, Tim has served the Nashville community. Sertoma, which stands for Service to Mankind, is a civic organization devoted to serving the local needs of children and adults with hearing health and communicative disorders. Tim served four years as softball coach of his daughters’ softball teams. He has also spent many hours as a fund-raising volunteer with service projects for both Sertoma and the Boy Scouts of America.
